When children play in an interactive museum such as Timmy’s Town Center, objective, quantifiable and impressionable leaning takes place. Children’s museums light a creative spark for discovery, school readiness, and lifelong learning. Timmy’s Town Center is a place where children develop essential fundamental skills; where they are respected; and where families connect in meaningful ways.
Timmy’s Town Center has developed numerous exhibits to nurture this learning, including a reading room “Read-cycling”, arts and crafts station “Arter Space”, performance space (dress-up, drama, and music), Puppet Theater, Farmer’s Market, and Multicultural House. Go to EXHIBITS to read more.
The Timmy’s Town Center was founded in memory of Timmy Kelly, who was stricken with cancer and died at the age of five. Timmy loved the Philadelphia children’s museum, Please Touch; he and his family visited it quite frequently. While there, he never felt different, sick, or bald; he was simply a kid having fun – playing, learning and discovering. His impressions were our inspiration. Timmy’s Town Center is a museum for all children from all communities.
